Make a life-changing difference in someone's darkest moment. 

Volunteers help strengthen prevention, outreach, and survivor support across Napa County. Whether assisting at community events or completing advocate training, there are meaningful ways to get involved.

Community & Event Volunteers

Support NEWS at outreach events, awareness campaigns, and fundraisers throughout the year.
Opportunities may include:
  • Walk-A-Mile Napa Valley and other events
  • Awareness month activities
  • Fundraising and engagement support

Become a Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Counselor

For those interested in deeper involvement, NEWS offers a 72-Hour Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Counselor Training (mandated by CalOES). Volunteers who complete the training become certified advocates providing crisis support, survivor advocacy, and community education.
Certified counselors may:
  • Respond to calls on the 24-hour crisis help line
  • Provide emotional support and safety planning for survivors
  • Assist with hospital accompaniment or law enforcement advocacy when needed
  • Support community education and prevention outreach
  • Help connect survivors with shelter, legal resources, and support services
These volunteers work alongside NEWS advocates and staff to ensure survivors have access to compassionate, trauma-informed support.

    January 21, 2026 (held annually)
