While scrolling through social media the other night, there was a post joking about the month of November and how it is a forgotten month. That November is the "calm" before for the storm of parties, as we look ahead to the end-of-year festivities, the New Year, and "what next?".
It struck a chord, and got me thinking. Especially as a new mom, time has moved way too quickly this year: it was last November when my son was just learning to crawl. Now, he is walking (read: running) and already has 12 teeth!
So, this November, I'm going to try and hit "pause". Take a deep breath, take a step back, and reflect on where we are, right now. Will you join me? Let's be present with ourselves and one another - during a month when it is so easy to be looking ahead.
Join us this month as we practice gratitude and linger in the present. Our staff, clients, and volunteers will share what they are thankful for, and we can bask just a little bit longer in the warmth of November.

We have exciting news! NEWS is honored to have been selected as a beneficiary for Gift Giving Tuesdays at The Meritage Resort and Spa for 2023! First, join us at their Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday November 18th at 4:00pm, where our Executive Director, Tracy Lamb, will say a few words in commemoration of the festivities. Enjoy an ice-skating appearance from gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi, plus Snoopy and friends, a visit from Santa, and a special live musical performance. This annual tradition is complimentary, but you need to reserve your spot HERE.
Then, on Tuesday December 26th, Meritage Resort and Spa is gifting NEWS 5% of all proceeds from the day’s activities as part of Gift Giving Tuesday! There’s lots to choose from, like ice skating, s’mores fire pit, private igloo rentals, story time with Santa, and of course all the wonders of the Napa Valley (wine and good food). So, plan a day of fun with the family and head on over to the Meritage Resort and Spa on Tuesday December 26!
