NEWS

Hey, February! Let's kick off the month with positivity and awareness! February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM), a time to stand up against unhealthy relationships. 1 in 5 women and 1 in 7 men who experienced rape, physical violence, and stalking by an intimate partner first experienced some form of partner violence between 11 and 17 years of age. Join us in spreading love, respect, and raising awareness, because every teen deserves a healthy relationship!

We’re excited to announce the 2024 theme for TDVAM is “Love Like That.” Selected by the love is respect Youth Council, “Love Like That,” illuminates what “that” means regarding healthy and unhealthy relationships. Teens and young adults express their love for one another in many ways, which differ from person to person or community. All expressions of love are valid. However, the essential aspect of “Love Like That” calls on us all to create a world of positive actions to express and show healthy love in various ways. Here at NEWS we plan a busy month of prevention activities and presentations. This year we will be holding #orange4love tabling events at six middle/high schools in Napa Valley. Many of these events are coordinated with school clubs, youth groups, and after school programs. Look at the Events below for dates.

Remember if you or someone you love needs support or advice we offer confidential YOUth Matter Healthy Relationship Coaching at 13 local middle and high school Wellness Centers. Access our online Self-Referral Form HERE to be put in touch directly with our YOUth Matter coaching staff!
