NEWS, Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Services, has a history of working to end violence. Over the years, we have continually recognized the inequity some survivors experience, and have worked to bring those at the margins to the center of our services approach. Today—and everyday—we are committed to anti-racism and anti-violence. We believe you cannot pull these two issues apart; they are intrinsically related. Our work navigates systems that have institutionalized disparate treatment of minority groups; and so we take action to create equity and inclusion, within the context of our work, to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUP FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS
Starts September 2, 2020

A new virtual support group for women survivors of domestic violence will be starting on Wednesdays in September. The group will be available via Zoom in Spanish (5:30-6:30pm) and in English (6:00-7:00pm).

Survivors of Domestic Violence Support Group offers a safe setting for survivors to talk and process their feelings within a group setting. Participants will receive support from a licensed therapist and group members who have shared similar experiences. Issues such as trust, anger, grief, coping and self-esteem are addressed.

This support group is completely free of charge and each survivor who participates in the group meetings will receive both practical and emotional support regarding their abuse.

Call 707.252.6397 or email ElizabethA@NapaNEWS.org for reservation and Zoom link info.

REFLECTIONS OF NEWS

"I didn't think I would get a backpack since I was going to school at home."

NEWS' Kids Exposed to Domestic Violence (KEDS) Program distributed 70 backpacks filled with school supplies to Napa County students, Kindergarten through High School. In order to give our kids a feeling of normalcy, and the joy that they have each year as they receive a new backpack filled with school supplies, NEWS continued our KEDS backpack campaign and gave students the supplies they will need at home for virtual learning, and a backpack to keep them in. The backpacks were distributed in a safe, drive-by pick-up one afternoon the first week of school. The children and teens were so happy and proud to start the school year with new supplies and a backpack!
