On January 4, NEWS started its first volunteer training for 2012 with an amazing 24 people in the class. This 6 week/60 hour training will graduate the participants with a certificate as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor. These volunteers will help staff the emergency shelter, answer the crisis line, work with KEDS (our children’s program), be on the Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), and also help with outreach and events.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with NEWS, please contact Shara Mae Bringas at sharamaeb@napanews.org. The next volunteer training will start on August 1, 2012.
